During Computer Graphics (EDTS 540), in the fall of 2015, we were asked to create a logo using Photoshop. The purpose of this assignment was to demonstrate the ability to create a unique graphic in Photoshop while being mindful of copyright law. For this project I created a logo to represent my 6th grade class. Because I am a teacher at a Catholic, all-girl school, I created an image to reflect who we are as a community. I included a cross to represent our faith with the number six wrapped around it to represent our grade. The number is also navy to represent our school color and the cross is pink which is our class color (each grade has a different spirit color.) This assignment met ISTE Standard 4a (Promote and Model Digital Citizenship and Responsibility) which states; "Teachers will advocate, model, and teach safe, legal, and ethical use of digital information and technology, including respect for copyright, intellectual property, and the appropriate documentation of sources." I met this standard by creating an image using digital tools while modeling the ethical use of technology by respecting copyright laws.
