Feelings WebQuest

During my first semester at Nazareth College, in the fall of 2014, I was enrolled in Introduction to Educational Technology (EDTS 523). During this course I was asked to create a WebQuest that I could then use in my own classroom. The purpose of this assignment was to demonstrate the ability to create a nonlinear PowerPoint WebQuest. At the time I was teaching preschool in a special education 8:1:1 classroom and had begun a unit on feelings with my students. I chose to create my project on this topic and used this tool with my own students. This assignment meets ISTE Standard 1b (Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity), which states; "teachers will engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources." I was able to meet this standard by involving my students in the creative process by having them model for the images used in the PowerPoint (these have since been removed to protect student privacy.) The concept of identify feelings is a critical developmental skill, and a real world problem that many students face, especially those with autism. Because many of my students struggled with identifying emotions in others, I was able to use this WebQuest to assist them in solving this problem through the use and exploration of the digital WebQuest.
